When we capture the beautiful, pure, free rainwater that falls from the sky and keep it on site, we can direct that bounty from roofs and hardscape surfaces into tanks and rainwater-infiltrating earthworks in the garden. By leveraging water collected in our own watersheds, we can easily double or triple the volume a landscape might naturally receive in a given rain year.
Rather than lose that water to a storm drain that eventually leads to the ocean, detaining and infiltrating as much as possible insures deep, nourishing moisture for the landscape, recharge of local groundwater, and even replenishment of the deeper aquifers so important to the common good of our community.

Greywater is the wastewater produced by sinks, showers, and laundry machines. By diverting this perfectly good, lightly used water from the septic or sewer system, we can send it into the garden to nourish plants and help build nutrient-rich, biologically active soil. To let it go down the drain would truly be a waste.
Every one of those gallons can go to your garden instead of the sewer.
Our team uses a variety of strategies in building climate-appropriate, regenerative landscapes that integrate edible plants wherever possible — most often by emphasizing native and Mediterranean plants in areas fed by rainwater, and edible plants in areas supplemented by greywater.
Protecting a site while it grows in matters as much as the planting itself — plus the on-the-ground project management to apply our knowledge of local ecology, skills, tools, and techniques to accurately meet your project's requirements.
A clear, collaborative path from first conversation to finished landscape.
A member of our design team visits the site to understand your project, needs, and goals. Typically one hour, billed at $100/hour in 15-minute increments after that — fully reimbursed if a design proposal is agreed upon.
We lay out the scope of work: base plan, discovery/assessment, design process, and rendering. Once agreed, we request a signed copy before proceeding.
We observe water flow, wildlife and fire corridors, view sectors, soil types, wind patterns, and human access needs — plus measure slope, area, and aspect.

The construction document is sent electronically and as a hard copy for your review, ahead of an in-person walkthrough — often including refined planting, lighting, and irrigation plans for cost estimation.
We meet on-site to review layout and placement, finalize material choices, and provide an installation estimate — with clear communication the whole way through.
Our team's high degree of horticultural training sets our maintenance apart — many members hold degrees in Horticulture and are Permaculture certified. We take a holistic view of soil health, microclimates, and the plant and animal life your landscape supports.
